Statesboro is located about 40 miles south of Savannah, Georgia and it is the county seat of Bulloch County. The city was founded in 1786 and was originally called Fort Blount. The name was changed to Statesboro in 1812. In the 19th century, things to do in Statesboro included cotton and lumber mills, turpentine production plants, a brickyard and factories that produced pecans and syrup.
