Description
Okefenokee Country Club is a private golf and social club that lies along the
banks of the winding Satilla River. We are centrally located between Blackshear
and Waycross in the Swamp Country of South Georgia surrounded by a
beautiful upscale community.
Okefenokee Country Club was established on January 29, 1923, as Waycross
Golf Club located in the city limits of Waycross, Ga. In 1935 the name was
changed to Okefenokee Country Club. The Club was moved to its current location
in 1977.
The 18-hole Championship Golf Course was built in 1977 by Joseph L. Lee. It is laid on natural southern Georgia terrain back dropped by ancient oaks and towering pines. The Spanish moss hanging from the gnarled old oaks sways in the summer breezes. The beautiful Satilla River comes into view as it “snakes” its way along a couple of holes. The Course offers views like none other while challenging one to a demanding, but fair, round of Golf.
The clubhouse dining room and lounge offers lunch and dinner with exquisite buffets and al la carte member dining. The facilities are available for hosting special member events, weddings, receptions and private as well as group functions.
We have an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, and a fenced in playground for the kids.
