Wildwood Stables has been enriching lives for over 40 years. Owner and instructor, Patricia L. Garbutt, has been involved with American Saddlebreds for over 50 years, starting her career at Sea Island Stables under the direction of the legendary Marvin L. Long. Showing through college, she won at competitions all over the country. Patricia attended the University of Georgia and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in childhood education. She then started her family, marrying former Marine, UGA graduate, and businessman Sonny Garbutt and had 2 children, Elizabeth Anne and Randall. She then started what is now one of the top barns in the country and teaching children and adults horsemanship and riding skills. Patricia has been a longtime member of ASHA, ASHAG, UPHA, and 4H. She also served on the UGA Equestrian Advisory Board, 4H Equine Board, and the GA Horse Council. She taught school in Wayne County for 31 years and was named the 2001 James E. Bacon Teacher of the Year. Patricia teaches good hands, a correct and balanced seat, and the ability to navigate the horse intelligently and effectively. She has instructed riders and horses to winning local, state, and regional championships, even placing at the World Championship Horse Show.
