Description
Located on the beautiful grounds of Epworth by the Sea, the Arthur Moore Methodist Museum is named after Bishop Arthur James Moore, who served as bishop for over 20 years throughout the world. The Moore Methodist Museum houses a vast collection of books and artifacts about our founders John and Charles Wesley. We are the official repository of records for the archives of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. You will find exhibits that range from Georgia history to a large collection of nativities from around the world. Come and walk in the foot-steps of John and Charles Wesley, ride along with a circuit rider as he spreads the word of God, and learn about St. Simons Island history. See how each country celebrates the birth of Jesus, as Christ is for the whole world.
Our museum is staffed by two conference employees and a host of dedicated volunteers. Everyday our workroom is a buzz of activity. Not only do we interact with our visitors who walk through the museum, but we also receive research requests from around the United States. The staff hopes to see you as we continue to be your "ministry of memory".
