Part of the UU Church of Savannah's Alla Breve Concert Series, which charges only $10 for admission, this tidy but mighty concert will feature Savannah's best jazzers playing songs from the great American songbook of standards, including swing tunes, bossa novas, ballads and more. The Bill Smith Trio is a group of top notch Savannah musicians who have worked collectively on a regular basis, but who also are recognized as key players in other important Savannah bands.
Leader Bill Smith, a native of Waycross Georgia, is a freelance guitarist who plays jazz, rock and classical. He is an in demand teacher and a frequent vocal accompanist as well.
Bassist Ryan Kelly is from a musical family, his grandmother being Emma Kelly of Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil fame. He plays regularly with his wife Patti Kelly, Danielle Hicks and The Resistance, the Ben Kieser Trio and the Chris Mitchell Band.
Kirk Lee on trumpet can be found at Good Times Jazz Club, Rancho Alegre Cuban Restaurant, with The Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love, The Savannah Jazz Orchestra and at many other area venues. For ages 13 and aboveDoors open at 2:00 pm
